Image Data of Faintlmages of the Radio sky at Twenty Centimeters (FlRST)
Publish Time:2024-08-31
These images are the coadded images from the 1993 through 2011 observations are archived in the Multimission Archive at Space Telescope (MAST) at the Space Telescope Science Institute. The final images from FIRST, produced by coadding the twelve (or sometimes more) single-field pointings adjacent to each pointing center, have 1.8" pixels, a typical rms of 0.15 mJy, and a resolution of 5". At the 1 mJy source detection threshold, there are ~90 sources per square degree, ~35% of which have resolved structure on scales from 2-30". The image data is stored in two directories: "image/vla first/data/" and "image/naro_first/". The first directory contains the complete data, which are downloaded from the Multimission Archive at Space Telescope (MAST) at the Space Telescope Science Institute(https://archive.stsci.edu/pub/vla_first/data/); while the second directory's data is more suitable for sharing and disseminationas, which is a subset of the first directory and can be completely replaced by the data in the "vla first/data/" directory.
