    根据光变曲线轮廓,传统上II型超新星分成光变曲线呈现出平台特征的IIP型以及光变曲线在星等尺度上线性下降的IIL型。然而,这两种II型超新星的起源尚存争议。
    该工作认为II型超新星爆炸极早期普遍存在相互作用,其强弱以及持续时间的长短是导致II型超新星观测多样性的主要因素。
    进一步提出早期相互作用是造成II型超新星光度-速度关系弥散的主要来源,指出了提高II型超新星宇宙学测距精度的方向。
    由于观测不够及时,以前往往没有捕捉到爆炸初始时刻的关键信息,从而对II型超新星分类产生误解。
