The simulation is to observe the input source with EP/WXT for a fixed
cadence of once per 3 orbits (~97min*3=291min), with 20 min exposure
per observation. This is roughly consistent with the observing
strategy of EP in its all-sky survey mode. Considering the large FoV
of EP/WXT, almost all the sources in the night sky can be monitored
regularly with this strategy.
For the first observation, the simulated source is detected in the
center of FoV. While for the rest observations, the source positions
are random, which can be found in the header of the event file, with
the keywords “XSOURCE” and “YSOURCE”.
The output spectra, as well as the arf file, are in the Type II
format.
The output light curve is a FITS file with multiple extensions. Each
extension contains the light curve of each single observation in the
default 0.5-4 keV band. The final extension contains the long-term
light curve, in which the fluxes (converted from the WXT count rates)
are in the energy band defined in the user-input interface.
The output image file is also a FITS file with multiple extensions,
with each extension containing the image for each single observation.
The last extension contains a stacked image for all the observations.
The template of the TDE light curve is generated based on a rising
period of 10 days and a plateau of 15 days, followed by the power law
evolution model with an index of -5/3. The other light curves are
taken from real observations by Swift (SGRB181123B, LGRB200303A,
LGRB210822A), RXTE (3C273, NGC4051), and MAXI (Algol, GX339-4,
Herx-1).
