2026 China-Spain Astronomical Collaboration Symposium & CHORUS workshop
地点 : Xingchen Tianyuan Grand Hotel, Pingtang, Guizhou, China
注册时间: 2026.05.29-2026.07.14
活动时间 : 2026.10.27 - 2026.10.31

Focusing on China-Spain astronomical cooperation, this conference takes the landmark China-Spain collaborative project in astronomical instrumentation development as its core driving force: the Canary Hybrid Optical High-Resolution Ultra-stable Spectrograph (CHORUS) for Spain’s Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC). CHORUS is co-developed by the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC), in partnership with the Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics & Technology (NIAOT, Chinese Academy of Sciences). This next-generation instrument is designed for installation on the GTC at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, La Palma, Spain. It features ultra-high resolution and exceptional long-term stability, and is specifically built for the detection of Earth-like planets and detailed stellar physics studies. Upon completion, it will become one of the world’s most competitive instruments for galactic science and exoplanet characterization, thus filling the current gap in China’s large-telescope observational capabilities.

Centering on China-Spain bilateral astronomical cooperation, this conference will cover the latest research progress in time-domain astronomy, stellar and interstellar physics, exoplanetary science, and galactic and extragalactic astronomy. It will also feature in-depth discussions on the progress and implementation details of the CHORUS project, future joint observation plans, long-term academic exchange mechanisms, and collaborative talent training. Additionally, the conference aims to facilitate the coordination of research resources, the sharing of telescope data, and the organization of follow-up academic activities.

In addition to the above topics, another major focus of this conference is to explore strategies to maximize scientific output through bilateral collaboration by fully leveraging existing and upcoming cutting-edge astronomical facilities in both China and Spain, including LAMOST (Guoshoujing Telescope), GTC, FAST (Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope), and CSST (Chinese Space Station Telescope).
