The NAOC and Caltech Bilateral Workshop on Transient Science and Follow-up Observations was held online, lasting from February 28 to March 1. More than 80 participants from universities and institutes at home and aboard attended the workshop. In this workshop, updates on forthcoming Chinese sky survey missions, such as Einstein Probe and SVOM, and spectroscopy observing capabilities of Caltech facilities are presented by the scientists from both institutions.
The workshop was also designed to define the requirements for time-sensitive observations for potential science programs and to explore the mechanisms to implement such observations to maximize science returns. Potential mutual transient science interests from both communities were also discussed.
